About GNU Essentials

In 2003, Founder and President, Marcia Wilbur’s first programming gig was to work on the database driven app and evaluate current documentation provided by Cisco for accuracy. Marcia ended up finding multiple flaws in provided docs and was directed to write Computer based training at Aries in cooperation with CompTia to prepare learners for the Linux+ certification. This curriculum circulated in 2004 at universities worldwide. She wrote this 13 chapter curriculum using “man pages, first person interviews for the history section, and hands on”. While developing the training, she insisted the course be named GNU Linux Essentials. They did not go for it.
